Things to do at the resort and around Horana

· 1 min read · The Nature Lovers' Resort

The resort sits on top of Kanumassagala hill, with paddy fields below and rubber and tea plantations around it. Here are some of our favourite ways to spend the time.

On the hill

  • Walk the grounds. The garden is wide and shaded, and paths lead out toward the plantations.
  • Follow the nature trail and keep an eye out for birds. Bird watching is one of the quiet pleasures here.
  • Morning yoga. Quiet corners of the garden are set aside for practice above the paddy fields.
  • Swim. The large infinity pool looks straight out over the valley.
  • Play. Cricket, volleyball, badminton, basketball, carrom and chess are all on site.

Around Horana

  • Tea estates. Visit a local plantation and see how the leaf is picked and rolled.
  • The Kalu Ganga. One of Sri Lanka's longest rivers, good for boat rides and riverside picnics.
  • Bopath Ella waterfall. A wide cascade and a popular half-day trip.
  • Village life. Walk or ride through the villages and paddy fields around Poruwadanda.

The front office can help arrange trips. See more on the experiences page, or get in touch to plan your stay.
